What we collect
Comments. When you leave a comment on an article, we collect the data shown in the comment form, your IP address, and your browser user-agent string for spam-detection purposes. An anonymized hash of your email may be sent to Gravatar to display an avatar; see Gravatar’s privacy policy at automattic.com/privacy.
Contact form / email. If you email us, we receive your email address and any message content. We use this only to reply.
Newsletter (Field Dispatch). If you subscribe, we store your email address and the date of subscription. We do not share this list. You can unsubscribe at any time via the link in any newsletter email.
Analytics. We may run privacy-preserving analytics (e.g. Plausible) to understand which articles are read. This is aggregate data only — no personally-identifiable information is sent off our servers.
Cookies and local storage. See our separate Cookie Policy for the full list. In brief: session cookies for logged-in users, your quiz progress and saved survival setups in your browser’s localStorage only, and CSRF nonces. We do not use advertising cookies, retargeting pixels, or third-party trackers.
What we don’t do
- We do not sell or rent your personal data to anyone.
- We do not run advertising networks on this site.
- We do not use retargeting pixels (Meta, Google Ads, TikTok, etc.).
- We do not require an account to read articles, use the tools, or save your kit locally.
Affiliate links
We participate in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program. When you click an Amazon link and complete a purchase, Amazon shares a small commission with us. Amazon’s own cookies handle that attribution — we do not see your purchase details. See our Affiliate Disclosure.
How long we keep your data
Comments and their metadata are kept indefinitely so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in moderation. Newsletter subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe. Contact emails are kept for 24 months and then deleted.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- Request a copy of any personal data we hold about you.
- Request correction or deletion of that data.
- Withdraw consent for marketing communications at any time.
- Lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.

Where your data is processed
Our servers are located in the United States. If you are reading from outside the US, your data is transferred to the US for processing. Under GDPR, this is permitted under standard contractual clauses or your explicit consent (by using the site).
Security
We use HTTPS site-wide, modern WordPress security practices, and limited admin access. No system is perfectly secure; if we discover a breach affecting your personal data we will notify you within 72 hours.
Children
BestKukriKnife is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors. If we learn that a child under 16 has provided us personal data, we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we materially change this policy we will post the update at the top of this page with a revision date. Continued use of the site after a change indicates acceptance of the revised policy.
