About Best Kukri Knife
Honest kukri reviews and Gurkha heritage guides — written from 15 years of personal experience, not spec sheets.
Marcus Kelvin
I started this site because I couldn’t find the kind of honest, experience-backed kukri content I was looking for. So I built it myself — one review, one guide, one deep dive at a time. Everything you read here is written by me.
Who I Am
My name is Marcus Kelvin, and I have been obsessed with kukri knives for over 15 years. What started as a casual curiosity turned into a serious pursuit — I have personally tested more than 60 kukri blades, travelled to Nepal three times to study traditional Kami blacksmithing, and spent countless hours researching the Gurkha history that makes this knife unlike anything else on earth.
I am not a brand. I am not a team. I am one person who genuinely loves this subject and writes everything you read on this site. Every review, every comparison, every how-to guide — that is all me. I buy or borrow the knives I test, I use them in the field, and I write exactly what I find — including the flaws.
Before starting BestKukriKnife.com, I led wilderness skills workshops and volunteered with a historical reenactment group focused on 19th-century British colonial military history. That background is what pulled me deep into Gurkha heritage, and it has never let me go.
Why I Built This Site
When I was starting out as a kukri collector, the internet was full of sites recycling manufacturer spec sheets and Amazon descriptions. Nobody was actually picking up the knife, chopping with it, sharpening it, and telling you what it was really like to own one.
I built BestKukriKnife.com to be the resource I wish had existed. My goal is simple: give you the kind of honest guidance you would get from a knowledgeable friend — someone who has already made the mistakes, done the testing, and can tell you straight what is worth your money and what is not.

My Editorial Standards
I have a strict rule: I never accept payment for positive coverage, and my recommendations are never influenced by whether a company sends me free products. When I do receive a knife at no charge, I say so clearly in the review. Everything else is purchased out of my own pocket.
I also go back and update my reviews over time. If my initial assessment was off, or a product changes, I revise. My credibility with readers matters more to me than protecting old opinions.
Affiliate Disclosure: Some links on this site are affiliate links, which means I may earn a small commission if you purchase through them — at no extra cost to you. This helps cover the cost of running the site and buying knives to test. My opinions are always my own and are never shaped by these arrangements.
